Something a bit different, my photography on a Japanese skirt.

Autumn is here – photographs of the glorious trees at Westonbirt Arboretum

Last year I was proudly the official photographer over at Westonbirt Arboretum. Part of this commission included going to the arboretum at the turn of every season and photographing the trees and activities for the following year’s marketing. One of my favourite set of photos from this commission was autumn. I’ve asked Westonbirt Arboretum if I could share some with you and I’m happy to be able to post some here. Hope you like them…. You can find Westonbirt Arboretum through their website , Facebook page and Twitter feed.

Portrait Session photo shoot with musician, public speaker and podcaster Katie Elliott

Recently it was my great pleasure to photograph Katie Elliott for some new press shots… I know Katie as a talented multi-instrumentalist, at the moment she’s perhaps most well known for her piano playing (here’s a Spotify link to her beautiful album of piano music ‘Walking The Edge’ also available on Amazon), but she’s also a podcaster and public speaker who’s picking up a lot of attention. Katie’s company Little Challenges is ‘a place to find ideas, tools and inspiration to make being human a little bit easier’. You can find out information there about her podcasts and also forthcoming book.  Katie asked me if I’d like to do a portrait session… the brief was to take a set of images which would cover all of her various needs. We started with the headphones image above for her podcast.

The Mary Rose – a Behind The Scenes tour for Candis Magazine

In 1979 excavation work began on bringing to the surface King Henry VIII’s 16th-century Tudor warship The Mary Rose, which sank into the depths of The Solent more than 450 years ago. We are now able to visit and enjoy the ship and its contents which have been lovingly restored, reconstructed and housed in this breathtaking museum located in Portsmouth. I was sent to the Mary Rose to carry out a Behind The Scenes set of photos for Candis Magazine. You might have seen my recent set of images for Candis from Trill Farm in Axminster, well this brief couldn’t have been much more different. We spent the day visiting the various parts of the museum, here we see some of the items which were found on the ship, as well as the skeleton of the ship’s dog – named Hatch due to the location of where the skeleton was found.

Trill Farm – a behind the scenes photo story for Candis Magazine

I recently had the great pleasure of visiting Trill Farm in Devon. It’s an inspiring place which includes an organic farm with restaurant, education centre, bed and breakfast and a farm shop… one of their main products is beautifully smelling soap. I was asked to take photos of Trill Farm for a ‘Behind The Scenes’ story for popular monthly magazine Candis. Candis Magazine have sent me on many wonderful photo shoots (which I’m going to hopefully feature more of in future blogs) and this one was another colourful and interesting brief – I’m excited to share some of the photos with you.

Model Session : Isabelle Rocks!

When I was asked to do a photo session with an up and coming young model called Isabelle Williams we immediately started pondering locations close to Bristol. Many ideas were thrown around (including reservoir settings), but we settled on the excellent caves in Wotton-under-Edge, which are perfect for model shoots.
