Behind the Scenes: Photographing for Channel 4’s New Show
I had an absolute ball doing the photography for Channel 4’s latest show, which premieres tonight (Wednesday, 21st September 2022) at 8 pm! Being part of such an exciting project was very exciting, and I’m thrilled to finally be able to share my photos with you. The images I captured are being used by Channel 4 and Plimsoll Productions for the show’s marketing, and it feels great to see them out there!
Working with a Great Team
One of the highlights of this shoot was the incredible team I had the pleasure of working with. Alongside the fabulous Mel Giedroyc, the show’s judges are the brilliant woodworking expert Sophie Sellu and design academic Tom Dyckhoff. Both Sophie and Tom were fantastic to work with – so easygoing and down-to-earth, which made the whole process run smoothly. Of course, Mel was a joy, as always, bringing her infectious energy and humor to the set. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to photograph.
Showcasing My Photography
I’m really pleased to be able to showcase my photography for this show, especially as it’s being featured in the marketing campaign. It’s always really exciting to see my photography promoting a show on a major channel like Channel 4. Whether it’s posters, digital ads, or social media banners, knowing my images are out there helping to build excitement for the show is a great feeling. I love being part of the process, contributing to something that people will soon be tuning in to watch.
The Importance of Collaboration
One thing that always stands out for me on TV and film shoots is how collaborative the process is. It’s not just about capturing good photos; it’s about working in sync with everyone involved – from the producers to the crew to the talent. On this project, that collaborative spirit was in full effect, and it made the whole experience so much fun. When you’re photographing well-known figures like Mel, Sophie, and Tom, I find the key is to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera, and that comes from building a good rapport on set. I like to think the relaxed vibe shines through in the final images.
More TV & Film Photography
If you’d like to see more of my TV and film photography, I’ve got plenty more to show! Head over to my TV & Film page to check out some of the other work I’ve done in this space. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph a variety of TV shows, and each one has its own unique style and atmosphere. From reality shows to dramas, every shoot is a new adventure, and I always learn something new.
First Dates: Another Fun Project
Another project I’m really proud of is my photography for First Dates on Channel 4. Working with Fred, Merlin, Cici, and the rest of the staff on that show was an absolute blast. They’re such a fun group, and capturing the energy and warmth that comes through on the screen was a real joy. The photos I took for First Dates are some of my favorite images, and if you’re a fan of the show, I think you’ll enjoy taking a look.
Bringing Stories to Life Through Photography
For me, photographing TV shows isn’t just about capturing what’s happening in front of the camera; it’s about telling a story through images. Whether it’s the chemistry between the hosts and judges or the atmosphere on set, my goal is to bring those elements to life in the photos. I want viewers to feel like they’re getting a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of their favorite shows. There’s something magical about being able to freeze a moment in time and share it with the world.
