I’m thinking about doing a version of my website which detects whether you’re using a mobile phone and gives you a different version of the site, a version which is designed to show on a smaller screen, but sometimes doesn’t show you as much content.
Can you tell me how you feel about these? Do they annoy you? Do you like them? Do you have an opinion? Do you even realise it’s happening?!
Let me know! You have the microphone….. *hands it to you*

I prefer to view the full site, but if the mobile version has a more concise, stripped down layout that still retains all the info then I like that. the problem with some mobile site is that they strip out some of the content, which ultimately means I switch to the full version…also prefer that for the iPad bigger screen too.
Hope this helps you.

So you’re saying good design makes it work?…. and also that there is a difference between iPad and iPhone/Android screens and should be dealt with differently.
This is all very useful, thanks all!
With the increasing use of smartphones I think it is a good idea. Personally, when using my smartphone, I only use photo sites that offer a mobile version, as the normal sites can be a pain to navigate and slow to load.
Thanks Adrian, that’s a really interesting point – speed of download. Thanks for your input.
I don’t use mobile sites.
Thanks Floris – by that do you mean that you would always click on ‘View Full Site’ or you would actually just close the browser/go somewhere else?
