Open House – The Great Sex Experiment
Hi all! A quick update about my work around the internet…
Really enjoying seeing my photos coming out for the new series of Channel 4’s Open House coming out now. The new series starts TONIGHT (Friday 9th May). Produced by Firecracker Films.
As you can see, we tried two versions of couples reading the Non-Monogamy book, so you’ll see them on different websites along with the hot tub image and portraits of the expert Effy Blue along with portraits of the guests.
A superb day all round, with only a few moments when I didn’t know where to put my eyes.
For more information, see under the photos for an auto generated fact file about the show. Hope you like the pics!

Channel 4’s Open House: The Great Sex Experiment is a provocative reality series that delves into the complexities of modern relationships by exploring the concept of consensual non-monogamy. Produced by Firecracker Films, the show invites committed couples to a luxurious retreat where they test the boundaries of their relationships by engaging with other participants in a controlled environment. The series, which has aired multiple seasons, aims to challenge societal norms surrounding monogamy and spark conversations about alternative relationship models.
I had the opportunity to contribute to the visual storytelling of Open House by providing promotional and behind-the-scenes photography for two of its series so far. My role involved capturing the essence of the show, from the intimate moments between participants to the grandeur of the retreat setting. These images were utilized across various platforms, including Channel 4’s promotional materials and press releases, to convey the show’s themes and atmosphere.(Paul Groom Photography Ltd)
The series is set in an undisclosed, opulent countryside mansion, providing a secluded and comfortable environment for participants to explore their relationships. Each couple is given the opportunity to interact with a group of open-minded singles, referred to as “residents,” and receive guidance from relationship experts, including Dr. Lori Beth Bisbey (series 1&2) and Effy Blue (series 3), psychologists specialising in consensual non-monogamy. The show’s format encourages open communication, trust, and emotional resilience among participants as they navigate new experiences.
Throughout its run, Open House has garnered attention for its bold approach to reality television. The series has been praised for its candid portrayal of relationships and its willingness to address topics often considered taboo. However, it has also faced criticism for its explicit content and the potential emotional risks for participants. Despite this, the show has maintained a strong viewership, particularly among the 16-34 age demographic, and has been renewed for multiple seasons.
Open House: The Great Sex Experiment stands as a significant entry in the realm of reality television, pushing boundaries and encouraging discussions about the nature of relationships.
