Jilly Cooper photo session for BBC / Swan Films I’m quickly parachuting in to share a preview page which has just been released using my photos from one of my favourite recent photo shoots for the upcoming BBC program called ‘In my own words’ with the absolutely lovely Jilly Cooper. It was such a pleasure to spend time with her. I’ll be back with more pics once they’re released to the press… but for now, here’s Jilly from the Swan Films website. A bit of info about Jilly Cooper: She is a prolific romance writer who has written such best sellers as the Rutshire Chronicles, Riders and many many more. See the Wikipedia page about her for more information. If you’d like to see more of my TV work, please see my TV / Film portfolio page.
Read OnWestonbirt Arboretum – Two Epic New Play Areas I had a great time photographing the two brand new play areas at Westonbirt Arboretum this month. The photos are now all over the internet as part of a press release announcing the arrival of these exciting new zones, called ‘Holford Hollow’ and ‘Branch Out’. They’re striking creations made of beautiful wood, rope and fixings located in the Old Arboretum amongst the surrounding trees, a location which is intended to encourage off-path exploration and discovery.
Read OnFirst Dates weekly listings appearances Yes, I’ve been hanging around the Co-op magazine counter again, skimming through the weeklies! I’m pleased to say that my pics of Fred and Merlin from First Dates are featured in this week’s TV Times and TV Choice. You can see the new series on Channel 4 and it starts on the 6th August 2024. These two images were taken from the individual portraits I took which included all of the staff in various places around the restarant doing different things… Merlin shaking a shaker, Cici holding a tray, Fred by his podium for introducing people. If you fancy experiencing the food and atmosphere at the restaurant they use for First Dates then get yourself down to The Botanist in Bath. They have a chain up and down the country, see the website here. See you next time!
Read OnFirst Dates Announce NEW SERIES! Photos by Paul Groom Photography at Bath location First Dates announce new series to start on Channel 4 on August 6th. Photography by Paul Groom I had a great time being the Channel 4 / Twenty Twenty photographer for this First Dates new series (and the previous one in January) and I thought I’d share some of the best shots with you. I photographed every single guest who came through the door to the restaurant, and also shot portraits of all of the First Dates staff including Fred, Merlin and Cici. Please see below for the photos. To see more of my portraits and Film and TV photography, please see the portfolio pages: TV & Film or Portraits. You’ll see that I’ve also photographed Mel Giedroyc for Channel 4 as well as Grayson and Philippa Perry, Boy George, Johnny Vegas and others. Sometimes on these TV jobs I take what is known as ‘Unit Stills’ which are basically behind the scenes photos. My job is to photograph the TV program being filmed myself and, importantly, not be noisy. The First Dates job didn’t have this element as I was too busy taking portraits of the […]

Read On..Set design by Lez Brotherston and front of house by Studio Three Sixty. My photography at Bristol venue Passenger Shed. I recently had the great pleasure of photographing the set and bar of the Enid Blyton play Malory Towers for ‘audience experience design’ company Studio Three Sixty. The set was by Lez Brotherston. The play was created by the company Wise Children and was playing at The Passenger Shed, Bristol. This was a great opportunity to use my wide angle lenses to really capture the detail of the set. I was granted access on set between shows, so it was key for me to work speedily and efficiently – it was all rather exciting. I thought I’d post the black and white versions of these pics, hope you like them. Thanks, Paul.
