Photo Session with Bristol Singer Lady Nade
Recently I had the great pleasure to meet and photograph the outstanding Bristol singer Lady Nade. I am a big fan of her music and wanted to do a session with her which had the feel of a fashion shoot, but with nods towards jazz photography, as her style has a real jazz quality.
We had a ball on the day… we were lucky enough to have make-up artist Helena Restall as well as assistant Danielle Robertson, too.
Helena used a striking gold colour on Nade which really makes the pictures. Even in black and white, Helena’s make-up brought real drama.
As you can see, we also had a great location – a disused brewery in Bristol, called the Fermentation Building. Part of the Finzel’s Reach complex. People who live in Bristol may know it as one of the buildings opposite Castle Park. The building gave me multiple opportunities for angles, backgrounds and feels.
Here are some action shots. Thanks to Helena for sending me the one of me at work.
Hope you like the pictures, it was a real treat to work with such a great team.
Lady Nade has just released a new single, called Mind’s Made Up, you can see the video here. You can find Lady Nade on Twitter and Facebook, as well as her own website.
Make-up artist Helena Restall can be found on Twitter and her own website.
Big thanks to my lovely assistant for the day, Danielle Robertson.
Finally a huge thanks to Cubex and Finzel’s Reach for the location.
My next creative portraiture session MAY involve a model in a darkly lit swimming pool – check back soon for more on that.
Thanks
Paul
