Corporate Event Photography at Concorde Bristol Aerospace
I was really taken back by the location of my most recent photo shoot – at CONCORDE! I took a quick selfie in front of the plane before my portrait subjects arrived (I’m a Bristol photographer, for those who didn’t realise).
On the night, most conversations were focussed on the plane and the hows and whys and general information about it, so I thought I’d post a blog with some information about the plane.. hope you find it interesting.
Concorde: A Supersonic Legend Now Housed in Bristol
If you’ve ever marveled at the elegance and innovation of Concorde, you might be thrilled to know you can see this aviation icon up close at Aerospace Bristol. This museum, located in Filton, just outside Bristol, is home to the last Concorde ever to fly. The aircraft, known as Concorde Alpha Foxtrot, offers visitors a fascinating glimpse into the history of supersonic travel.
A Concorde Connection: Why Bristol is Key to Aviation History
Bristol holds a special place in the Concorde story. Much of the groundbreaking engineering and manufacturing of this iconic aircraft took place in Filton. The collaboration between British and French teams resulted in the creation of the world’s first supersonic passenger jet. Concorde first took to the skies in 1969, offering unprecedented speed and luxury for its time. Capable of cruising at twice the speed of sound, Concorde could cut transatlantic travel times in half, transporting passengers from London to New York in just three and a half hours.
Aerospace Bristol: Preserving a Piece of History
Aerospace Bristol is a must-visit destination for anyone passionate about engineering, aviation, or history. The museum celebrates Bristol’s rich aerospace heritage, featuring interactive exhibits, aircraft displays, and insights into the people who shaped this industry. At its heart is Concorde Alpha Foxtrot, a stunning centerpiece that allows visitors to step inside and imagine the thrill of flying at Mach 2.
Whether you’re a long-time aviation enthusiast or simply curious about the achievements of the past, standing beneath Concorde’s sleek frame is an unforgettable experience.
Why Concorde Still Captivates Audiences
Despite being retired from service in 2003, Concorde remains a symbol of human ingenuity and ambition. Its elegant design and record-breaking speeds captured the imagination of millions. Visiting Concorde at Aerospace Bristol provides not only a chance to see the aircraft up close but also to learn about its groundbreaking technology, its impact on aviation, and the challenges that eventually led to its retirement.
